Pro Tip: Save about 100 Euros by taking the train into Munich from the airport!
How to get to the train station: Upon arriving at Munich Airport, head towards Terminal 2 and go down the escalators. The S-Bahn station is conveniently located between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. If you're arriving in Terminal 1, follow the signs to the S-Bahn station, which is about a 5-10 minute walk.
At the station, purchase a ticket at the machines and select a ticket to München Hauptbahnhof (Munich Central Station). Take either the S1 or S8 S-Bahn line, as both head to the central station. The journey will take about 45 minutes, with trains running frequently, every 10-20 minutes.
Once you arrive at Munich Central Station, follow the signs to the main exit and walk to your hotel, the Sure Hotel by Best Western Muenchen Hauptbahnhof, just a 5-minute walk (400 meters) down Arnulfstraße.
After dropping off your bags, begin your walking tour towards Marienplatz. Take in the sights of Saint Peter’s Church, a 20-minute walk from the hotel, and stroll through the serene Hofgarten. For lunch around 2 PM, head to Hofbräuhaus München, a historic 3-floor beer hall dating back to the 16th century, where you can enjoy Bavarian cuisine.
After lunch, it might be the perfect time to shop for traditional Bavarian outfits—Dirndls for women and lederhosen for men—before your Oktoberfest adventures.
